On April 11 the Wetland Ambassadors traveled to the Harte Research Institute (HRI) at Texas A&M University: Corpus Christi. They discussed ocean acidification with lab managers, doctoral students, and master degree students. HRI staff was impressed at students knowledge of ocean acidification, weekly monitoring, and work with other schools. Wetland Ambassadors also gained a deeper understanding of ocean acidifications on local ecosystems by touring the institute.

Wetland ambassadors learned the importance and uniqueness of serpulid worms in Baffin Bay as well as Texas oysters. The doctoral and masters candidates led students through hands-on, research stations that included: shucking oysters, oyster anatomy, oyster disease, species identification and counts, and shell measurement. The event culminated with ambassadors making oyster bags that will be used for habitat restoration.
