Dr. Dorina Murgulet

Dr. Murgulet spoke to classes on April 5th. She and her lab manager Cory activated students schema by relating hydrogeological information to local wetlands, nearby aquifers, and common rocks. Dr. Murgulet researches waters movement through geological features. Texas is well known for its unique ecosystem and life in underground aquifers such as the Edwards Aquifer. Much of the central the Texas landscape is built upon a foundation of limestone. This tantamount Texas stone is highly prone to acidification. Dr. Murgulet used a model to demonstrate waters complex interactions with different geographical features including stone. At at the end of the presentation students tested their knowledge by playing Kahoot. Thank you to Dr. Murgulet and Cory for speaking to students on ocean acidification impact on geological features.
